Why would I want to pay for out-of-pocket for speech-language services?

By not billing insurance directly, we can offer evidence-based treatment that is tailored to meet your unique needs. Our focus is on delivering efficient and effective therapy sessions that prioritize your convenience and maximize progress. We empower clients and their parents/guardians by teaching them techniques that can be used between sessions, resulting in accelerated progress and tangible results. By accepting private pay clients, we have the freedom to explore creative solutions in delivering our services without being limited by insurance coverage restrictions. This offers convenience as we do not require referrals or prior authorizations, streamlining the process and ensuring a hassle-free experience. During the evaluation, we will determine the best frequency of therapy sessions that aligns with your goals and availability. At Sound Achievement, we are committed to providing the highest level of care and personalized attention that comes with our private pay model.

How do I prepare for my child’s first session?

We will provide you with a personalized Zoom® link for you and your child to use for all speech and language assessment and treatment sessions. Additionally, we will send you a link to the Client Portal, where you can complete all required paperwork, upload payment information, and keep track of your scheduled appointments.

What is the cost of an evaluation?

At Sound Achievement, we believe that a comprehensive assessment is crucial for effective intervention. Our assessments are detailed and accurate, and they help us identify your child's communication challenges and strengths. That's why we require all children to complete an assessment before starting our services. If your child has been assessed by another speech-language pathologist within the past six months, you can provide us with a copy of the report that we will try to use as a starting point for our speech therapy services.

The cost of the assessment at Sound Achievement will depend on the areas assessed and the duration of the assessment and analysis. We offer two types of evaluations: speech-only evaluations (CPT Code #92522) range from $150-$300, and speech, language, and literacy evaluations (CPT Code #92523) range from $550-$1000. Before we begin any assessment or treatment activities, we will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate specific to your child. All private pay clients receive a 20% discount.

What can I expect during an evaluation?

At Sound Achievement, we are committed to providing a complete assessment of your child's speech and language needs. Here's what you can expect during the evaluation process:

  • Intake Questionnaire: As part of the initial intake process, you will receive a questionnaire to provide us with important information about your child's medical and developmental history. This questionnaire allows us to understand your concerns and how they impact daily living.

  • Building Rapport: We begin the evaluation by building a connection with your child. We create a comfortable and engaging environment through play or casual conversation to ensure their cooperation throughout the assessment.

  • Assessment Tools: We utilize a variety of assessment tools, including standardized tests, observation of your child's behavior and language use, and speech and language samples to cater to specific concerns and goals.

  • Identifying Strengths and Areas of Need: We aim to identify your child's strengths, areas of need, and current levels of functioning through the assessment process. This comprehensive analysis allows us to tailor our approach to their unique requirements.

  • Evaluation Report and Recommendations: After analyzing the gathered information, we will provide you with a detailed report summarizing the evaluation results. The report will outline our observations, assessment findings, and personalized recommendations for therapy and support. Our goal is to keep you well-informed and empowered to make informed decisions regarding your child's care.

At Sound Achievement, we strive to provide a thorough evaluation that not only identifies areas of concern but also highlights your child's strengths. This approach enables us to create an effective and personalized therapy plan that targets their unique needs and fosters meaningful progress.

What is the cost of a treatment session?

We offer speech and language treatment sessions at a rate of $75 per 30-minute session. Sessions can be prorated for longer or shorter sessions. Private pay clients receive a 20% discount.

How long will my child be in therapy?

At Sound Achievement, we understand that the duration of therapy varies for each person and is influenced by several factors. These factors include the severity of the speech or language disorder, the effectiveness of home programming and carryover, and caregiver participation. Children with milder challenges may require a shorter duration of therapy, while those with more significant difficulties may benefit from a longer-term treatment plan.

It's important to note that setting specific timelines for therapy can be challenging due to the individualized nature of treatment. At Sound Achievement, our focus is on providing high-quality, evidence-based therapy that addresses each child’s unique needs. We conduct regular evaluations and progress assessments to ensure that therapy remains effective and aligned with the child’s evolving needs.

During the evaluation process, we will discuss the recommended frequency and duration of therapy based on the initial assessment findings. As therapy progresses, we will continuously assess and re-evaluate your child’s progress to ensure that therapy remains effective. Our ultimate goal is to support each child in achieving their maximum potential and functional communication skills. By tailoring therapy to their specific needs and providing ongoing support, we strive to make therapy as efficient and effective as possible, regardless of the duration it may take.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel an appointment? What is your cancellation policy?

To cancel an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance by calling (858) 326-1254. Failure to cancel within this time frame will result in a full charge for the missed session. If your child becomes suddenly ill, please call to cancel by 7 AM on the day of your appointment. If you cancel after 7 AM on the day of the session, unless we agree otherwise, you will be charged in full. If you do not show up for your appointment, you will be charged for the entire session. We will try to accommodate you for make-up sessions as our schedule allows. If you need to cancel with at least 48 hours' notice, you may email us at alycia@soundachievement.com.

Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you are late, we will still end the session at the originally scheduled time to be fair to others. If time allows, we may be able to provide an additional 10 minutes.

Consistent attendance is essential for your child's progress in speech-language therapy. If your child misses three or more sessions within a six-week period, their services may be placed on hold until scheduling conflicts are resolved. Please help us better serve you by keeping your scheduled appointments or calling before 7 AM on the day of your appointment to reschedule.
